UPSC Photo Resizer

UPSC's photo instructions ask for a photo on a plain white background, as a JPG file of 20–200 KB. Your face should cover about three quarters of the photo, and the photo must not be signed.

The instructions don't fix exact pixel dimensions, so PhotoSuvidha makes it 350 × 450 px: a clear portrait that stays inside the KB limit.

UPSC: what to know

  • The file should be named photo.jpg. PhotoSuvidha saves it with that name.
  • Don't sign or write your name on the photo.
  • Your face should fill about 3/4 of the photo, with both ears visible.
  • The form also takes a live photo and matches it with the uploaded one, so use a recent photo that looks like you today.

How to resize your photo for UPSC

  1. 1Tap “Resize UPSC photo”. The size, KB limit and background are already set for UPSC.
  2. 2Take a new photo or pick one from your gallery. It doesn't need to be the right size.
  3. 3Drag and zoom until your face sits inside the oval, then make the background white if needed.
  4. 4Download. The file is 350 × 450 px, 20–200 KB, JPG: ready to upload in the UPSC form.

Common mistakes

  • A busy or dark background. Stand in front of a plain, light wall, or use the background cleaner.
  • Face too small. Your head and shoulders should fill most of the photo.
  • A cap, dark glasses or strong shadows on the face.
  • An old photo. The photo should look like you do today.
  • Compressing in another app that changes the pixel size, so the form rejects it.

Frequently asked questions

UPSC's notice sets the file size (20–200 KB, JPG) but no exact dimensions. PhotoSuvidha makes it 350 × 450 px, which meets those rules.

Does the UPSC photo need my name and date?

What file name should the UPSC photo have?

photo.jpg. PhotoSuvidha saves the download with that name.

Is my photo uploaded or stored anywhere?

No. PhotoSuvidha resizes and compresses the image inside your browser, on your own phone or computer. The image is never sent to our server.

Yes. There is no sign-up, no watermark and no charge.
